There are different types of clarinets used for variety of music and professional players choose their clarinets according to what they play. You can of course make any type of clarinet fit well in any type of music but professionals must know something. So if you are a beginner, you should chose your clarinet considering this.In general, Albert or simple system clarinets (also known as German style) are used for folk or jazz music and Boehm system clarinets for classical and band music. Bb is the most common pitch but some Aegean coast countries prefer lower pitched clarinets like Bulgarians in "A" and Turks in "G" which is also known as Turkish Clarinet.
There are also other differences in Eastern style clarinet playing than the clarinet style itself. Eastern players choose their mouthpieces and reeds differently than Western players. Even using the fingers and and the mouth varies in different types of music.
Sometimes exactly the same instrument could sound completely different if the style is different. With no doubt, clarinet is one of them.
